Why Does My Turf Need Infill?

by Nov 3, 2021Blog

Infill is simply the sand-like materials that gets brushed into the turf to protect the grass blades by holding them up against foot traffic.. It is an essential part of any installation for both the aesthetics and longevity of the turf. It also regulates the drainage and temperature of your turf Without it, the grass blades would always lay flat and it would not look or feel like real grass. These are the 3 main infill options you should be aware of, as this will have an impact on your quote:

Envirofill is definitely the top choice, however it might not be within everyone’s budget. For more information on the advantages of Envirofill, please check out www.USgreentech.com

Other FAQ’s about Infill:

Q: Will we be getting sand in our shoes every time we walk outside?

A: Not at all! Unlike the rubber pellets used on turf soccer fields, these types of infills simply drop into the thatch layer of the grass and never come out unless they are vacuumed out.

Q: Do I need to add more infill every year?

A: No, but it doesn’t hurt to add a little more every few years, especially for dog owners

Q: Why do you infill putting greens too?

A: Similar to how they sand the greens at a golf course, this helps to create a smoother surface for a better roll and can also increase the green speed by adding more sand

Q: Which kind of infill is safe for my dogs/children

A: For any dog owners, Zeolite or Envirofill will work. If you have children under the age of 5, Envirofill is the right choice as it’s 100% non-toxic, even if accidentally ingested. Better safe than sorry!
